If you are a leader of a management team desiring to become high performance, Barb Mauntler can help you through a 4-step process over a 6-month timeframe. Step 1 Team Member Self-Disclosure This step is designed to encourage openness and trust among team members and involves a meeting at which each person shares answers to a series of questions about his/her role, goals perceived strengths and areas of struggle. Step 2 Team Assessment This step involves two team assessments. The first utilizes the DiSC Personal Profile to create awareness among team members of each other’s styles and the overall team strengths and weaknesses. The second is a team questionnaire that assesses the following: Team Structure, Processes, Culture, Meetings, Performance, Strengths and Opportunities for Improvement. A summary of the team’s answers is then given to the team and a plan for improvement and team norms or ground rules are formulated. Step 3 Team Member Feedback In Step 3 each team member answers questions about each other team member. Questions cover the following areas of personal effectiveness: Attitude, Personal Style, Interpersonal Skills, Group Skills, Problem-Solving Skills, Stress Management, Management & Leadership Skills and Performance. The answers are summarized by Barb for each participant and discussed in a private half-hour feedback session. Then the team meets to provide an opportunity for each member to share his/her strengths and goals for personal improvement with the other team members and ask for support in these efforts. Step 4 Meeting Analysis and Progress Check-up Step 4 is an in-depth analysis of team meetings and a check-up on the team’s adherence to the earlier established norms or ground rules. This step typically takes place six months after Step 1.
